ROGELIO MAXWELL.

Considered one of D.C.'s most ground-breaking artists, Rogelio Maxwell has shown his work at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Washington Project for the Arts, the DC Arts Center, Fondo del Sol Gallery, and many other venues. Al Nodal, of the Washington Project of the Arts, states "I have always been impressed by the strong character of his work and by his constant experimentation in many artistic disciplines.... He has created works of art, whether in film, music, literature, performance art or the visual arts, which are intriguing and excellent." Maxwell began his current series of three-dimensional gestural abstractions in 2001. The medium is acrylic on aluminum, in various sizes-- the rhythm of music frozen in time.

Rogelio was recently sworn in as a commissioner for the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities for 2008-2010. Currently he is working on a video documenting the last 50 years of art in Washington DC.
