Rogelio Maxwell is a multimedia artist, fusing painting, drawing, and music with performance, film and video to create a "living tableau." Born in Panama and raised in Brooklyn, Maxwel has worked as an artist and musician in Washington D.C. for almost 30 years.
...
Maxwell studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and at Georgetown University, American University, and Washington International College. He was the Director and curator of Hardart Gallery from 1976 to 1985 ("the District's foremost underground artists' group" -Washington TImes) and he has curated exhibits at Fondo Del Sol Gallery and The Collector Gallery.
...As a musician, Maxwell has performed at such locales as the Smithsonian Institute, the Washington Project for the Arts, D.C. Space, the 9:30 Club, the Museum of Temporary Art, the Olshonsky Gallery, and the Roxy in Washington DC, as well as in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Boston. He taught photography at Centro Graphico and worked as an audo-visual technician for Osiris Productions and Projection, Inc, and taught basic televison production at DCTV, Cable 5 & 6.
